Basically, it all comes down to what kind of feeling you’re going for! There are no rules written down anywhere dictating when an “elopement” becomes a “traditional wedding.” Whether you have 2 guests or 20, you can still call your marriage an elopement. It's about crafting an experience that means something to you, rather than following the traditional rules of what a wedding “should” be and losing sight of your deeper WHY in the process. I've photographed small weddings in Lapland with 20 guests that had the same vibes and intimacy as a 2 person elopement.

One key difference I’d mention between a wedding and an elopement is that an elopement doesn’t need a venue. You can literally get married in a field if you wish!

I’m located in a small village called Risudden, or Vitsaniemi in Finnish. It’s right at the border between Sweden and Finland — an area that we call the heart of Lapland. The village is famous not only for its beauty but also for the international arts. Two cultural spots I particularly love here are Konsthall Tornedalen and the Art Hotel. I collaborate with all these venues regularly and would love to help set up a visit or help you plan a wedding celebration there. Yes, I do! Mostly I travel to Stockholm, but a couple of times each year I also travel to shoot destination weddings outside of Sweden and Finland. 99% of my couples tell me this. You have nothing to worry about! I’ll help direct and prompt you, and guide you into certain movements. However, I much prefer the fun, fluid, candid images that happen when you're NOT trying to look a certain way!

As long as you need me! My standard packages include 2-hour, 5-hour, and 8-hour sessions. However, I also offer a package with two-day coverage and custom packages designed to meet any time requirements you might have.

Funny you should ask! I also offer classic analogue film with my small- and medium-format cameras. I love shooting with film — it offers a totally different feel when shooting (super slow) and the photos have a nostalgic look you just can’t replicate in a digital format.

The complete gallery, with professionally edited photos ready to be printed or shared online, will arrive in about 6-8 weeks after your wedding (depending on my schedule). The photos will be delivered in the form of a personal, password-protected, online gallery. If you need your images sooner, you have the option to add on Rush Turnaround when booking.

The sooner you book, the better. Usually I take bookings 12 months in advance. I only take a limited number of weddings each year because I want to give every wedding and elopement I photograph the time and attention they need to get done right.

After you get in touch, I’ll set up a time for a video chat or phone call. If it seems like we’re a match, you’ll sign a contract and send over a non-refundable retainer to lock in your date.

I do require the non-refundable flat retainer fee, but the remainder of the payment can be broken down into smaller payments. Payments can be made with credit card or bank transfer. I’d be happy to discuss a payment plan that works for you.

The booking retainer is not refundable if you cancel your date but if you need to reschedule, your retainer can be transferred as long as the new date is scheduled at least 60 days in advance. If you need to reschedule your elopement to a new calendar year, a new booking retainer will need to be paid to secure the new date.

The short answer is, it’s totally up to you! An elopement gives you a chance to celebrate in your own unique way. Here are a few suggestions to help you get the planning process started:

• Write your own vows
• Include your guests in your ceremony
• Time your ceremony with the sunset (I can help you with the timing for this)
• Exchange rings
• Have an EPIC first kiss!
• Celebrate by popping champagne!

Yes, I do! I create gorgeous hand-bound albums with fine art paper, crafted with great attention to detail and with my signature creative style. The final result is a physical collection of photographs worthy of your special day. I think memories are best preserved in a great-looking printed album or prints on the wall.

My favourite time for a Lapland elopement is in September. This is the time of year when everything is green, orange, and red. The weather is still warm, but it’s not too hot and the air is crisp. The sun sets at a decent time too, which means you can go out at night and take in the Northern Lights without having to deal with the freezing weather.

I also love January, since this time of year brings some otherworldly, amazing light, and the newly fallen snow makes the landscape more beautiful than ever. March is also great for a Lapland elopement. This time of year is called Spring-Winter — it has amazing light, and warm sunny days and cold nights that make the snow hard and the water frozen so you can walk over it!
